Four Danes killed, one captured in Safwan.
Four Danish aggressor troops were killed and a fifth captured by the Resistance in Safwan, southern Iraq at about 8:10pm when Resistance forces attacked an aggressor column of Danish Landrovers and two Japanese tanks*1 on the road in Safwan.
Resistance forces attacked the rear of the column, splitting it in two and cutting off eight Landrovers and one Japanese armored vehicle. Tow Landrovers were destroyed, four Danes killed, tow others seriously wounded, as was one Japanese. One Dane was taken prisoner.
Eyewitnesses reported that although the Japanese armored vehicles were there to protect the Danes, they were the first to flee*2. The Resistance concentrated their fire on them but they raced away, first to the east, then to the north to catch up to the first part of the split column, which had proceeded after the attack began, leaving the rear on its own.
